Expensive verses Cheap kits
Marcus White
my most expensive build. The Special Forces Rescue, with Helicoptor, photo etch, resin figures and 3D printed figures 1/35 probably about £150, learned a lot making it though. Most of my scenes are converted figures sets that I resculpt. Probably my cheapest all from spare parts is sea of mud; started during a bank holiday build with the club.

Seems the price of model kits grows each year, but my liking of resin and etch kits means they come at a cost, most of the Panzershop resin models are well over £100, I do try to find a bargain, the BR52 train only cost £100 retail over £300 when it came out, also the Accurate Armour diamond T and trailer was very cheap.

Most expensive kit for the RRP I bought was the Hobby Fan Tracked Rapier, retailing at 300 quid!!!! However I know a little China man who brought me one over, after building it so glad I didn’t spend the full rrp, can’t tell you how cheap it was though due to a gentleman’s agreement

I think the most expensive kit, was my KFS Humber "Pig" which was over £100, but with no complaints with all the parts being well moulded and not needing to buy any extras, on the inexpensive side would be my scratch built bomb disposal robots, with the exception of the time taken they were reasonably inexpensive, just the materials , which would equate to a newly released 1/35th armour kit..

2 of my cheapest builds .... both bought at shows from bargin bins ..... both bought to have a play with skin tones and Tattoo's
this has got to be my most expensive build .... scratch built Bailey Pontoon ...... £200 plus

Firstly two photos of the cheapest model I made. It was scratch built from scrap plastic so cost was about zero. Track may have been a few pence. This is one of my favourite models. It is 009 scale so about 1/70th and quite small.
The most expensive kit was a present of a large scale Airfix Harrier (1/24th scale perhaps?). This was sometime in the 70's. It was the worst kit I've ever done with really serious warping of the fuselage that couldn't really be repaired. No photos; it was binned.

My most expensive kit is the Tamiya famo and trailer, still waiting to be built. I paid £100.
Most expensive built kit but waiting painting, is the Dragon K5 rail gun. £80
Cheapest kit, picnic bench, it's got 4 parts, although I did replace the pole with an after market cocktail stick. unit cost 25p

Isaac found a Revell Battle of Britain set of 4 kits at a school fair for £2. The most expensive kit (so far) is my 1:350 scale river class frigate which I hope to start later this year.
